Memorial Day Parade

The annual Memorial Day Parade traditionally begins at 10 am with a parade up South Franklin Street from Triangle Park, where the American flag is lowered to half staff. The line of march continues for ceremonies at Evergreen Hill Cemetery.

The parade gererally features units from the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars color guard, and members and military vehicles. Local safety forces and dignitaries participate as well as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Brownie Scouts.

Citizen marchers fall in line behind the final unit to witness the ceremony at Evergreen Cemetary. All present observe a moment of silence, the annual presentation of taps and rifle salute to honor fallen service men, women and first responders.
