This book discussion and craft for grades 4-6 will have this week's
Chautauqua theme of the Middle East at the Chagrin Falls Branch Library.
We will discuss Andrew Clements' Extra Credit. Abby wasn't particularly
interested in Afghanistan but she was interested in passing the 6th
grade so she began corresponding with an Afghan pen pal. This extra
credit assignment started a friendship and led to deeper understanding
of both cultures. Kite flying is a serious sport in Afghanistan so
after the discussion we will make and try to fly some small kites.
